The best source of vitamins is through a daily intake of organic fruit and veg! With busy lives this is not always possible so a supplement is a back up to be sure we get what we need instead. There is definitely a difference in the cheap brands and branded products. It is like buying a cheaper aloe vera face cream which will say it contains aloe vera, but the percentage of aloe will be 0.01% and the rest will be a cheap filler. If you spend more, you will be buying a better product with a higher aloe concentrate and better ingredients, therefore better for your skin.
The same goes with vitamins. There are vitaimins which contain either natural ingredients or synthetic ingredients, the latter being the cheapest option for the vitamin companies and with good marketing they will claim to have the best product on the market! Most of the high street / supermarket brands will opt for the synthetic type. The natural type will have a better, higher potency of ingredients used, therefore, better for you, but you will have to spend more money and ask yourself, are you worth it!? Vitamins and other nutrients work synergistically, meaning that other nutrients are required for the any of the vitamins to even work a little bit. e.g calcium needs vitamin D to be absorbed and vitamin E requires zinc, so make sure you take vitamins with minerals also.
Solgar is a brand which does use natural ingredients and their website www.solgar.co.uk details their process in sourcing ingredients so I would stick with this type of brand.
I think you are paying for Marketing, the last time I needed to purchase Vitamins and Omega 3 I bought them in Poundland for a £1.00 each, I think they just work the same.
